rare, nintendo 64, banjo kazooie

The Banjo Kazooie series enjoyed a fantastic run on the Nintendo 64, and its two GameBoy Color entries weren’t so bad either. However, we also feel obligated to mention the gargantuan disappointment that was Nuts ‘n Bolts. So where has the series been these past few years? Well, developer Rare has been stuck with developing Kinect games for the past few years, leaving their platforming roots behind.

Now for the good news! If a certain Twitter feed is to be believed, a number of ex-Rare employees are looking to make a spiritual successor to the Banjo Kazooie games. The team is looking at Kickstarter for potential funding, and this sort of project is certain to get off the ground fast.

We know from the Demon’s Souls/Dark Souls relationship that spiritual successors can be just as good as full-on sequels. Our hopes are high for another Banjo Kazooie game (or the closest thing we can get). What about you?
