Black Tusk Studios, formally known as “Microsoft Vancouver,” simply put a target on the Halo franchise’s back. The newly created first party developer of Microsoft’s is building toward “Microsoft’s next big entertainment franchise,” said studio manager Mike Crump.
“We’re not working on an existing franchise, we’re looking to build the next Halo here in Vancouver, for example, which is really exciting. We are building something from the ground up.”
In an interview with the Vancouver Sun, Crump further explained the wealth of AAA talent, spanning decades of development and multi-year projects within their current roster of 55. The former EA employee also stated he and four others were in talks of a creating Black Tusk Studios about a year ago. Interestingly enough, their division of Microsoft “will focus on the Xbox 360 video game console,” quoted from the interview.
However, Black Tusk Studios is still in its inception, picking out furniture, doubling their staff, and deciding what motivational cat poster to mount on the wall. With that in mind, the next “Halo Killer” won’t be ready for the masses until the next generation Microsoft console is unveiled.
